Wisconsin International University College, Ghana has strengthened its commitment to expanding healthcare education and international collaboration through the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Riphah International University of Islamabad, Pakistan.
Dignitaries Witness the Signing Ceremony
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Chancellor of Wisconsin International University College, Dr Paul Kofi Fynn; Chairman of the University Council, Justice Isaac Duoce; and key staff of the institution, including the President, Dr Lawrence Kannae, and the Acting Registrar, Mrs Joyce Lartey.
In addition, their presence reflected the importance both institutions attach to the partnership and its potential impact on healthcare education in Ghana.

Meanwhile, the delegation from Pakistan comprised Mr Noor Nabi, Deputy Head of Mission at the High Commission of Pakistan in Ghana; Prof. Dr Yawar Hayat Khan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Riphah International University; Mr Atiq Ur Rehman, Head of Administration, Marketing and Internationalization at RAK College of Dental Sciences; and Brigadier Syed Mujtaba Tirmizi, Director of International Business and Director of Environment and Climate Sciences at Riphah International University.

Partnership to Strengthen Healthcare Education
The two parties believe the partnership marks the beginning of a shared commitment to promote academic excellence, healthcare education, research, and capacity building.
Through the agreement, both universities have expressed their commitment to working together in the areas of Dental Education, Rehabilitation Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, healthcare training, research, and academic development.
Expanding Academic and Research Collaboration
Speaking during the meeting, officials from both institutions highlighted the importance of international partnerships in addressing the growing demand for highly trained healthcare professionals across Africa.
Furthermore, they emphasized that collaboration between universities remains one of the most effective ways of sharing knowledge, expertise, and innovation to improve educational outcomes and healthcare delivery.
Proposed College of Dentistry in Ghana
One of the major outcomes expected from the partnership is the establishment of a College of Dentistry and related healthcare training facilities in Ghana.
As a result, the proposed initiative is expected to create new opportunities for students, academics, researchers, and healthcare practitioners while contributing significantly to the country’s healthcare sector.


Opportunities for Students and Faculty
The collaboration will also facilitate faculty and student exchange programmes, joint research projects, professional development initiatives, and the sharing of best practices in healthcare education and institutional management.
In line with this, both institutions will work together to develop programmes that meet international standards while responding to the healthcare needs of Ghana and the wider African region.
Wisconsin’s Vision for Global Partnerships
Wisconsin management described the agreement as an important milestone in the University’s ongoing efforts to expand its academic offerings and strengthen its global partnerships.
They further noted that the collaboration aligns with the University’s vision of becoming a leading centre for professional and healthcare education in Africa.

Delegation Tours Wisconsin’s Facilities
After the signing ceremony, the team from Pakistan toured Wisconsin’s facilities, including the Library, Neurodiagnostics Lab, High-Fidelity Mannequin Lab, Artificial Intelligence Lab, High-Definition Anatomy Table, Broadcast Training Studio, Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics Lab, Law Library, Moot Court, and other facilities.
This tour also gave the delegation an opportunity to experience Wisconsin’s growing investment in practical teaching, professional training, and modern learning facilities.

As the ceremony concluded, representatives of both universities expressed optimism about the future of the partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to working together to create lasting educational and healthcare opportunities for Ghana, Africa, and beyond.
