WISCONSIN ONLINE RADIO TO GO LIVE

The long wait is finally over with the start of live radio online transmission of the School of Communication. With the test set to begin the second week of September, 2020, the news of the start of the online “Wisconsin Radio” seems to have excited members of the university community, particularly students of the School of Communication.

The Wisconsin Radio could not have come at a better time than when journalism and broadcasting students of the university are itching for such an opportunity. For these students, this will offer the necessary hands-on training and skill which will give them a competitive edge in the industry.

Wisconsin Radio will operate through a radio link which will be created on the University’s website on the interim (add link)

Wisconsin Radio will have a comprehensive program schedule which includes a morning show, news, current affairs, sports and other student relevant programs featuring. Programs will be produced by students of the School of Communication under the guidance of the studio manager, lecturers and seasoned communication and broadcasting personalities. The School of Communication is meanwhile looking forward to hosting students and members from other faculties/schools in developing world class and commercial standard broadcasting. Students from other departments are meanwhile encouraged to contact the studio manager with concepts and proposals both in the areas of sound technique, editing, script writing, anchoring, Djing and many more. This is only the second such investment in the area of creative technique and development after a huge investment by the university in setting up a state-of-the-art recording studio fitted with all gadgets.

Studio manager Esme Amoah Awuah, explained that broadcasting is best taught using theory and practical to help students thrive in a competitive media space, adding that the online radio will serve as an important tool to educate, inform and entertain the University community.

The ultra-modern WIUC-GH broadcasting studio was commissioned in 2019 by the Minister for Communications Hon. Ursula Owusu–Akuful.
