27 Apr

16 students who had completed their requisite courses in English proficiency were awarded their certificate at a ceremony held at the Accra campus of Wisconsin International University College, Ghana (WIUC-Gh). In his address to the graduands, the Registrar for WIUC-Gh Mr. Frank Yeboah called on them to be worthy ambassadors of university back in their respective countries of origin. He encouraged the graduands to build a more solid foundation by earning a degree and Masters by enrolling at Wisconsin.

Head of Languages at WIUC-GH Mr. Dennis Sokou also commended the graduates in their decision to make themselves more marketable with an English proficiency and their choice of Wisconsin International University College English Center.

Recounting the background history of the WIUC English center, he mentioned that this was necessitated by the inability of students French students pursuing degrees and Masters to catch up with Ghanaian and other Anglophone students in class.

Grace Guehoua who is a Master’s Degree holder in International Finance from Ivory Coast was awarded the best proficient student. She expressed enthusiasm at the prospects and opportunities ahead as a more marketable person with proficiency in the English language saying “Initially I had difficulty in writing and understanding anything in English but now I can write letters, essays and many more which makes me fulfilled”.

Grace also commended the facilitators at the center for their influence adding “studying English at Wisconsin English proficiency class has been a journey worthwhile because of the various ways we were taught with the use of practical and audio devices, debates and other entertaining forms”.

The graduation ceremony was interspersed with performances by the students.

Wisconsin International University College English center currently has students from eleven countries including Benin, Cameroun, Togo, Ivory Coast, Mali and many others. Admission is in progress for the commencement of the next batch on the 21st of May, 2021.
