WIUC-Ghana held a graduation for its music students. The ceremony is the first for the school’s Certificate in Music Program. It was witnessed by Chairman of Council, Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the school as well as faculty members, parents and well-wishers.
In a brief address, the Chairman of the University’s council Justice Isaac Douse underscored the potential contribution of music on the country’s economic growth. He said ‘the present 0.13 % percent music contributes to our GDP could be tripled if we take the music business seriously’.
The Vice Chancellor of the School, Prof. Obeng Mireku admonished students to learn other human skills such as discipline, perseverance, patience to complement their musical talents. These he said will enable them make proper choices that will propel their musical journey.
Mr. Frank Yeboah who is the Registrar of the School congratulated graduands on being the pioneers of WIUC Music School and hoped they would be worthy ambassadors of the school. He also encouraged graduants to nurture the talents they have and the knowledge they have acquired from the training.
The COO of WIUC, Mr. Jacob Fynn said the music school is witnessing rapid expansion following the huge patronage of the music program compelling the university to acquire a property in Haatso to be fitted with state of the art learning equipment solely for the use of the Music School.
The ceremony witnessed musical performance from some of the graduants and present students including 13 years old Ewurabena. The graduands expressed joy and appreciation to school for giving them the opportunity to refine their skills.
The WIUC Music School is coordinated by Mr. Newlove Annan who was optimistic about the program. He underscored the massive support the program is receiving from university management.
