24th Matriculation Ceremony 2026 at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana

Wisconsin International University College, Ghana (WIUC-Ghana) held its 24th matriculation ceremony on 28th February 2026 to officially welcome newly admitted students into the University community.

Senior Justice Isaac Duose, Chairman of the University Council, delivered a remark on behalf of the University board, expressing his gratitude to the students for choosing Wisconsin International University College, Ghana. He urged the new students to cultivate a curious mind and to have lifelong friends to help them grow and aspire to greatness. He encouraged the newly admitted students to remain focused on their studies, emphasising that their academic pursuits are the core reason for their presence at the University.

The President of the University, Dr Lawrence A. Kannae, also extended a heartfelt welcome to the fresh students. He explained that matriculation is a rite of passage that formally admits freshers into the University by taking the Matriculation Oath and signing the register of students. He said, ‘You are becoming part of a community of over 13,000 students and a story that is 26 years old, one of impact, transformation and service to Ghana and beyond. 

Dr Kannae announced that the University has welcomed giants over the years that has aided in our transformation, impacted and growth of the university, with the likes of Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the then Minister of Education, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the current Minister of Education, Sir Sam Jonah, a renowned businessman, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic and many more.

He added the increasing number of students at both the Accra and Kumasi campuses across seven schools and faculties. The Accra Campus recorded 1,508 matriculants (393 males and 1,115 females) while the Kumasi Campus matriculates been 554 matriculants (106 males and 438 females). This brings it to an overall total of 2,025 students; indication of steady growth over the years that reflects Wisconsin’s strength as a top-choice private university in Ghana. 

An addition to the ceremony was the matriculant expectation delivered by a 21-year-old student from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Miss Judith Mawunya Asafu. She urged her colleagues to learn as the road ahead will not always be smooth, as the assignments, project works, presentations and examinations may be overwhelming.

She said ‘as matriculants we promise to work hard even when no one is watching, we promise to uphold integrity even when short cut seems tempting, we promise to support one another instead of competing destructively, we promise to represent this university with pride and dignity and also hope that the university would guide, equip and challenge the students with the knowledge and skill to service Ghana and beyond.

Following the President’s speechthe Ag. Registrar administered the Matriculation Oath, after which students were officially declared fully matriculated.
