WIUC-Ghana Graduates 1,879 Students As It Celebrates 25 Years Of Impactful Education

Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, has successfully held its 18th Congregation, a milestone event that also marked the Silver Jubilee of the institution. The ceremony under the theme “WIUC’s Silver Jubilee: Celebrating 25 Years of Impactful Education.”

Opening Address by the Chancellor

In his welcome address, Chancellor of the university, Dr Paul Kofi Fynn, reflected on the University’s humble beginnings, starting with only nine students, including himself, his wife, and their children and highlighted its remarkable growth over 25 years. He encouraged the graduating class to stay driven and resilient, reminding them that “the world waits for no one.” He congratulated them on their achievements and urged them to go forth with confidence.

Address by the President

The President of the University, Dr Lawrence A. Kannae, in presenting his report, outlined the scale and significance of the 2025 graduating cohort, encouraging graduands to become “job creators rather than job seekers,” while emphasising the university’s commitment to equipping students with practical, future-ready skills. He highlighted recent institutional advancements, including the newly inaugurated Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence Lab and specialised Skills Laboratories for Nursing and Midwifery students.

A total of 1,388 students from the Accra campus made up of 1,207 undergraduates (males: 265 & females: 942), 157 post-graduates (males: 106 & females: 51), 24 diploma graduates (males: 12 & females: 12) and a total of 491 from the Kumasi Campus made up of (males: 125 & females: 366).

The President also reminded the class that as the Silver Jubilee Graduating Class, they are torchbearers of a new era, one defined by innovation rooted in human values.

Valedictory Address

The Valedictorian for the 2025 Graduating Class was Miss Ann Awini Amadu, completing her BBA degree from the Business School with an impressive GPA of 3.90. Ann, who also hosted Lunch Time Vibes on WIUC-Ghana Radio, delivered an emotional speech expressing gratitude to faculty, management, and peers for their unwavering support. She encouraged her colleagues to keep striving, innovating, and pushing boundaries.

Her achievement adds to the legacy set by the previous year’s valedictorian, Dorcas Abena Gyan Boateng, who graduated with a GPA of 3.95 in Communication Studies. Ann’s message focused on looking ahead, embracing the world not just as graduates, but as leaders and creators shaping the future.

The ceremony concluded with the recitation of the Alumni Oath, administered by the Alumni Association President, Mr Oscar Tei-Mensah, Esq, who encouraged the new alumni to remain connected and support the growth of the Association.
