21 Professionals earn certificate in occupational health & safety Mgt

Wisconsin International University College (WIUC-GH) graduated its first batch of the Occupational Health, and Safety Management Certificate class.

Head of Extra Mural and coordinator for the programme, Dr. Charles Acheampong in his address to the graduands encouraged them to apply the skills they have acquired to make the needed impact of saving lives and costs in their places of work, while being worthy ambassadors of the school.

He continued by saying that the value they have added unto themselves will draw the attention of their various organizations due to the increasing awareness around health, safety and environmental issues.

On his part, Head of Quality Assurance at Wisconsin International University College, Dr. Shine Gbedemah said that the program will soon be rolled out at the Wisconsin University Colleges Kumasi campus, to ensure that professionals from other regions also benefit from the program. He urged the class to spread the good news about the program in order to engender increased discussion on Health and Safety issues and have professional take up the training.

The 21 graduands drawn from the health sectors, security services, banking and construction sectors and other private business owners as part of their training went through a four week lectures, role playing and simulation exercises. Also present at the ceremony was the programme facilitator and head of HSE at Amandi Holdings, Jonathan Antwi, Chief Operations Officer and Acting Director for Public Affairs and Marketing, as well as other members of staff.

The Occupational Health and Safety Management program focuses on teaching fundamental and practical skills and competencies to provide preventive occupational health and safety which is necessary for individuals, professionals and the general public to acquire in any field of work. Targeted groups include factory workers, mining, upstream and downstream oil workers, banking, health, construction workers and general office workers.
