Wisconsin Marks 2026 Chancellor’s Day with Worship & Thanksgiving

Staff and students of Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, have celebrated the Chancellor’s Day with prayer, worship, and thanksgiving. This occasion highlighted both spiritual reflection and institutional progress as the University moves beyond its silver quarter-century milestone into a new era.

Under the auspices of the Wisconsin Mid-Week Service, the event opened with an uplifting session of praise and worship led by renowned gospel singer ACP Kofi Sarpong, setting the tone for celebration and thanksgiving.

In his welcome address, the President of the University, Dr Lawrence A. Kannae, expressed profound appreciation to staff for their dedication and to students for their active participation in the ceremony. He attributed the University’s steady rise to the vision and perseverance of its Founder and Chancellor, Dr Paul Kofi Fynn saying “this remarkable journey has been made possible through the foresight, courage, and unwavering commitment of our Founder,” He also added “his vision was not simply to establish a university, but to build a centre of excellence that blends academic rigor with moral discipline and global relevance.”

Dr Kannae further emphasised that shared values of faith, discipline, service, and purpose bind the Wisconsin community. Looking ahead, he revealed that future celebrations of the Chancellor’s Day will expand beyond worship services to include seminars, public lectures, and talk shows focused on leadership, ethics, national development, and personal responsibility. He added that the occasion will also serve as a platform for recognising and celebrating outstanding staff and students whose dedication reflects the ideals of the institution.

The Acting Registrar, Joyce Lartey, also paid tribute to the Chancellor and Founder for his vision, dedication, and lifelong commitment to education, while expressing gratitude to God for the gift of his life. She commended staff for their tireless efforts toward the growth of the University and shared impressive statistics that underscore its expansion, from about 2,000 students in 2011 to approximately 13,000 as of December 2025.

She urged the University community to remain united in purpose and to continue believing in the Wisconsin dream, describing the growth trajectory as a testament to collective commitment and divine guidance.

Adding a personal and emotional touch to the ceremony, the wife of the Chancellor and Mother of the School, Mrs Gertrude Fynn, commended management and staff for their unwavering support and dedication over the years. She encouraged the entire University community to remain steadfast in faith, noting that it is God’s grace and their commitments that continue to sustain the institution. Also present at the ceremony were the University Council Chairman, Justice Isaac Douse (Rtd), Deans and HoDs.

The Chancellor’s Day celebration reaffirmed Wisconsin International University College Ghana’s identity as an institution rooted in faith and growing in gratitude, honouring its Founder’s vision while embracing a future of excellence, service, and moral leadership.
