WIUC-GHANA DRAWS GIMPA IN THE PRELIMINARY STAGE OF THE 2024 TERTIARY BUSINESS SENSE CHALLENGE

Former runners-up Wisconsin International University College, Ghana has been drawn against GIMPA in the first round of the sixth edition of the Graphic Business Sense Challenge competition at a brief ceremony to launch the 2024 edition of the event. Graphic Business in partnership with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, launched the 2024 Tertiary Business Sense Competition (Version 6.0) at the executive theatre of TV3 in Accra

The Tertiary Business Sense Challenge, an initiative by Graphic Business, provides a platform for tertiary business schools in Ghana to showcase the quality of education given to students. Like previous competitions, this year’s challenge aims to bridge the gap between academia and the job market. Competing schools in this year’s editions include the Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, GIMPA, Accra Technical University, and UPSA among others.

FORMAT


During the launch, the quiz master presented a detailed roadmap for the competition, which will begin in four zones across the country: the Southwest Zone (5 schools), the Northern Zone (4 schools), the Middle Zone (7 schools), and the South East Zone (19 schools).

Students will be examined on 15 subject areas over five rounds of competition. The zonal competitions will begin on August 19 and end on September 7, 2024. The national competitions will start with the round of 16 from September 23 to 25, followed by the quarterfinals on September 27 and 28, semifinals on September 30, and the grand finale on a date yet to be determined. Additionally, there will be mentorship sessions and software training for participants.

During the launch, a ballot was drawn to determine the matchups for the zonal competitions, with Wisconsin International University College drawn against its neighbour, GIMPA.

WISCONSIN’S PREPARATIONS TOWARDS TO THE COMPETITION


Wisconsin International University College Ghana is the first private university to make it to the finals of the Business Sense Challenge competition in its first edition, beating the likes of the University of Ghana and UPSA only to lose to the University of Cape Coast to second place.

A Head of Department at the Wisconsin Business School Dr Kwesi Addae Mensah who doubles as the coach for Team Wisconsin assured that his team is battle-ready and vigorously preparing towards the competition promising to give their best.

Over the past five editions, the competition has seen four different winners from various institutions, with the University of Cape Coast winning twice and the University of Ghana as the defending champions.
