Wisconsin appoint Joel A. Idun-Acquah as the new registrar

Wisconsin International University College, Ghana (WIUC-GH) has appointed Mr. Joel Idun-Acquah as the new registrar of the university at a special convocation ceremony held at its Accra campus.

Mr. Joel Idun-Acquah will succeed Mr Frank Kwame Yeboah who has held the position for close to a decade. As an educationist with varied expertise, Mr. Idun-Acquah comes in with vast knowledge at the basic, secondary and tertiary levels having worked with the Human Resource Unit of the Ghana Education Service before joining Wisconsin International University College Ghana.

Mr. Joel Idun -Acquah is a product of Mfantsipim Secondary School and holds Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Diploma in Education. He also holds a Master of Business Administration Degree in Management Information Systems.

Until his appointment as Registrar, Mr. Joel Idun Acquah served as the Assistant Registrar at WIUC-GH from November 2005 before being upgraded to the rank of Senior Assistant Registrar in 2012. He was subsequently promoted to Deputy Registrar in 2016.

The President of WIUC-GH Professor Obeng Mireku in his address admonished all workers of the university to offer the necessary support to the newly appointed Registrar since “his success is our success” he added. The President added that Mr. Idun Acquah who had risen through the ranks and having understudied the immediate past Registrar is the best person for the role and hoped that the strong sense of morality, commitment, and integrity that he exhibited throughout his time at Wisconsin will spur him on to succeed.

The newly appointed Registrar Mr. Joel Idun-Acquah in his address promised to work to consolidate Wisconsin’s position as the first choice private tertiary institution in Ghana and the subregion with highly qualified staff while promoting quality teaching and learning, research and community engagement. Mr. Idun-Acquah also pledged to support the various faculties, staff, and students ensuring everyone works in an atmosphere of integrity, transparency, and accountability at all times.

Chairman of the University Council Justice Isaac Duose congratulated the newly appointed Registrar and said the choice of Mr. Joel Idun-Acquah was a homegrown decision. He admonished Mr. Idun-Acquah to listen more as a leader. He urged the newly appointed Registrar to accept wholeheartedly criticism which could come in handy in his new position.

In attendance at the ceremony was the Vice President of WIUC-GH, Dr. Lawrence Kannae, the Head of HR, Deans, and other Heads of departments of the various departments, schools, and faculties.
