12 Mar

Wisconsin’s basketball team fought valiantly to secure the first position at the recently held PUSAG games.

The games, held at the University of Cape Coast, brought together sportsmen and women from private universities to battle for honors in various sporting disciplines.

The team presented the Vice Chancellor, Professor Obeng Mireku, together with the Registrar, Mr. Frank Yeboah, the trophy.

The Vice Chancellor, on behalf of management of the university, praised the team for their efforts and recounted the sacrifices they had to make to get to the games. The Vice-Chancellor Professor Obeng Mireku added that apart from intellectual activities sports is critical because of its health and social benefits. He urged the Dean of Students and the SRC to work closely in bringing up a female team for next year’s PUSAG games.

The Private Universities Students’ Association of Ghana (PUSAG) has a membership of over 38 private universities with a combined student population of about 50,000.

The PUSAG Games are an annual event which brings together students from the various private universities in Ghana, to develop and showcase their sporting and athletic talents.

Wisconsin also competed in table tennis and athletics and came out with the first and third positions respectively.
