Benefits of Studying Law

Law teaches you to speak, to read, to write, to deliberate, to debate and to research as follows:

1. Negotiation:

A crucial part of studying for a law degree includes developing your negotiation skills – both written and verbal negotiation because the ability to successfully argue a point or challenge a decision is extremely important as this is desirable in many higher-level job positions.

2. Analysis:

Throughout the course of the programme, students are required to gather data and draw conclusions based on their own analysis of the facts and figures. The skill gotten during this phase forms the bedrock of many senior business roles.

3. Presentation:

Having great presentation skills can not be overemphasized. The ability to communicate an idea, sell a product or pitch is an invaluable skill that will help you get ahead in your career.

4. Problem-solving:

Whether in the field of law or not, employers value employees with the ability to find solutions to difficult situations. At Wisconsin, you are taught how to think outside the box when seeking to solve problems.

5. Working Under Pressure:

Due to the nature of the course of study, you are constantly made to work under pressure meeting strict deadline and completing reading assignments. With the right support, law students graduate with the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments irrespective of the industry.

6. Industry Experts:

Our law students get the advantage of being mentored by retired high court justice while practising their presentation skills in the moot court. This allows them to master the craft of argumentation thus making them better lawyers in practise.
