Wisconsin International University College, Ghana on course to mentor 10,000 second cycle students in Accra

Wisconsin International University College (WIUC), Ghana has extended its Inter-Senior High School Education and Career and Guidance Seminar Series to two more second-cycle institutions in the Greater Accra Region, an initiative by the university dubbed the Community Engagement and Partnership for Sustainability (CEPS) drive.

The latest beneficiary schools are Rev. John Teye Memorial Institute SHS located along the Ofankor-Nsawam road and Kwabenya Community Senior High School.

The Seminar Series which has so far mentored over 2,000 SHS students is also in line with WIUC’s Corporate Social Responsibility and is projected to engage 10,000 students from selected Senior High Schools across the country in counselling, career guidance and mentoring sessions by the end of 2022.

At the end of the event at Rev. John Teye Memorial Institute, it was obvious the initiative was achieving the needed impact and objective as expressed in some interactions with both students and teachers who expressed profound gratitude to the Wisconsin International University College for the timely and insightful sessions. They admitted the engagement has brought more clarity on the programmes at the university courses and what career paths to choose based on their strengths, traits and character.

The Seminar Series train which has already been to the Preset Pacesetters SHS, De-Youngsters SHS and the Amasaman Senior Technical School is under the theme, ‘Connect to The Future: Finding the True ‘Me’ brings together resource persons from diverse professional and academic backgrounds to engage and counsel second cycle students on topics including identifying personal interests, developing values and safe social lives.

The event is an initiative of the Public Affairs Unit of the university with support from other departments at Wisconsin International University College.
