BSc. MANAGEMENT WITH COMPUTER STUDIES
RATIONAL FOR THE PROGRAMME
The programme provides academic opportunities and experiential learning to undergraduate students to acquire knowledge, leadership, team building skills and attitudes to function as IT and business managers. WASSCE & SSSCE
Candidates must have six credits (A1-C6) in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science (Biology or Agricultural Science for Nigerian applicants) or Social Studies, and three elective subjects, making an aggregate of no more than 36. For SSSCE, candidates must have six credits (A-D) in the three Core Subjects and three electives, making an aggregate of no more than 24.
Mature Students
Candidates must be at least 25 years old and must write and pass an entrance examination in English, Mathematics, IT and General Business. They may also be required to attend an interview.
Others
Applicants with GCE, ICGSE, GBCE, ABCE, Baccalaureate, Professional Courses (ICA, ACCA, CIM etc) and HND, among others may contact us for levels of placement.

The University will bear the application cost for the non-citizen ID Card and the Immigration permit for all international students after he/she has paid, 75% (for freshers) or 50% (for continuing students) of the total school fees and registered for the semester. Students are encouraged to submit completed application forms together with all their relevant documents to the International Relations Office for processing. Students are also to note that late registration penalty still stands as the University policy and are requested to settle any outstanding immigration penalties, if any, to be in good standing and enjoy this privilege.

BENEFITS OF STUDYING BSc. MANAGEMENT WITH COMPUTER STUDIES
Graduates of the BSc Bachelor of Science in Management with Computer Studies programme should be able to:
- Equip themselves with skills that will enable them to develop and implement successful business and IT plans and ideas
- Apply skills and concepts learned in their understanding and practice of business and IT management.
- Analyse, identify critical business and IT problems and opportunities for building teams, empowering colleagues, and motivating subordinates within an organisation
- Use quantitative methods and technology to support problem analysis and decision-making in order to communicate information to influence an organisation
- Appreciate the importance and utilisation of ethical decision-making principles in the IT industry.
MAJOR LEARNING ACTIVITIES
The course will be a combination of lecture sessions and tutorials. A combination of techniques, including face-to-face and online lecture sessions, tutorials, class discussions, group presentations, quizzes, web searches and video documentary reviews will be employed to ensure the effective delivery of the course. Lectures will follow the course outline and text presentation of the relevant chapters of the recommended text. The lecturer may utilize additional information to supplement the text. Students are expected to read topics in textbooks ahead of class and will use lecture sessions to clarify difficult materials. Assignments and practical tests will be administered at the end of every major topic.
All students do project work as part of the requirements for the award of their degrees. They start formulating topics for the project work at level 400, after they have taken and passed the course in Research Methods. Project work for business students involves:
- Taking a course in Research Methods
- Designing and formatting the project work
- Spending a maximum of two semesters on the project work
- Depositing a copy of the final work in the library for reference
Software development projects for Computer Science students involve:
- Taking a course in Research Methods
- Appraisal of the existing information needs of an organization
- Feasibility study
- Software design and implementation
- Documentation describing the research design, existing system of identified
organization, software design specification, and software implementation
Students are required to maintain contact with their supervisors who monitor progress, ensure that the design and format of the project work meet the college’s standards. They are also required to make a PowerPoint presentation for faculty and students on completion of the project as part of the final examination.
COMPETENCE-BASED TRAINING (CBT) COMPONENT
Competency-based training helps prioritize the learning of students to achieve new skills and achieve great results in this programme. It allows students to match their individual competencies with job competencies in the market so that they can place talent in the positions that will ensure their growth and best performance.
PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING (PBL) COMPONENT
Problem-based learning (PBL) is a student-centred approach in which students learn about a subject by working in groups to solve an open-ended problem.
PRACTICAL TRAINING (INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT, INTERNSHIP, ETC.)
Internship is an integral part of each undergraduate programme offered by the university. Students undertake industrial attachment (internship) for three months to get first hand (on-the-job) experience. Students are assigned to suitable organisations where they are expected to apply knowledge learnt in class in real life situations where practical experience will be gained by participating in the day-to-day activities of the organization concerned.
