Wisconsin has topped its category to reach the finals of the HR Focus Inter-Schools Business Challenge. They will face off three other universities at the finals on 12th October 2017 at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra.

The HR Focus Business Challenge 2017 is aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation, networking and creative problem-solving among university students.

The competing teams were given different scenarios for which they needed to identify solutions through innovative thinking.

Judging criteria included teamwork, creativity, presentation, feasibility of their idea and acceptability of their solution.

With participants from Wisconsin International University College, Ghana (WIUC-Ghana), Pentecost University College, Accra Institute of Technology, Radford University College, University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Presbyterian University College and University of Professional Studies (UPSA), this year’s challenge was fiercer and more exciting than last year’s.

Winners of last year’s challenge, UPSA, automatically booked a place at this year’s finals. The six other contending universities, placed in three groups of two, battled for spots in the final. The teams were made up of five students from each institution.

WIUC-Ghana and UGBS each topped their group and were booked for the finals. Pentecost University College was selected as a result of a wild card decision by the judges.

WIUC-Ghana is represented by the following students:

  • Arisa Munachim - BBS Human Resource Management (Level 300 Upper)

  • Princess Renice Anni - BA Communication Studies (Level 300 Upper)

  • Olubowale Olutobi - BBS Human Resource Management (Level 300 Upper)

  • Oyesile Oluwagbenga - BBS Banking and Finance (Level 300 Upper)

  • Michael Nii Ayitey Hammond - LLB (Law) (Level 400 Upper)

The finals of the Challenge, which is organised by HR Business Focus Magazine, will coincide with this year’s HR Focus Conference and Awards ceremony on 12th & 13th October.
