Nigerian student executives from 10 institutions around the country have received tips on selfless leadership at a recent Leadership Summit held at Wisconsin International University College-Ghana.
Organised by the National Association of Nigerian Students-Ghana (NANS-GH), the Summit’s theme was ‘The Burden of Leadership’.
Various aspects of leadership were discussed, including running an association on no budget, balancing leadership and education, and humility in leadership.
The event drew 54 representatives from 10 institutions around the country.
Wisconsin was represented by executives from the Nigerian Students’ Association (NSA). Wisconsin’s NSA president Ekanem Blessing Etiene said: “It was a privilege to host such an enlightening event here at Wisconsin. The speakers really made us understand the burden of leadership.
“If there is one thing I learnt, it is the fact that being a leader does not place you above your fellow students. It is rather an opportunity for you to serve them”.
The facilitators were drawn from various organisations across a spectrum of fields. They were Mr Ademujimi from the Kingsmill Leadership Institute; Mr Femi Banigbe,
former Chief Technical Officer at Millicoms Ghana Ltd; Mr Ogochukwu Nweke, a lecturer at Regent University College; and Mr Yomi Awokola, Executive Officer at the International Water Management Institute.
