A warm Wisconsin welcome was extended to 1,066 new students at the University’s 13th Matriculation Ceremony. The students, who come from 14 countries, joined the University during the 2015/2016 academic year. Among them were Wisconsin’s first-ever matriculants on the BA Communication Studies, BA Rural Development and Ecotourism and BSc Economics programmes.
The only thing needed to change Africa is good leadership, students heard when the Eagles Summit Africa 2015 lecture series made a pit stop at Wisconsin. The annual lecture series aims to inspire a culture of excellence and transformational leadership among the next generation of leaders.
The limelight beckons for Wisconsin’s University Choir who are preparing to enter a TV reality gospel choral competition. Wizzy’s choir leader Fauster Kromoah-Kwame, who attended the launch of the University Gospel Choir of the Year competition at the Accra World Trade Centre, says the choir is putting in their best effort to prepare.
Wisconsin students are being encouraged to apply for internships at global investment bank Goldman Sachs in the UK, as well as a number of top local organisations. Wisconsin’s Career Services Centre will assist interested students to apply for the world-class training programme, mentorship from top professionals and a paid internship at leading companies.
Poetry, music and dance flowed at colourful celebrations to mark Nigeria’s 55th Independence Day at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana. Wisconsin’s Chairman of Council Justice Isaac Duose surprised the audience with a rendition of the original version of Nigeria’s national anthem.
